A new season and some business to attend to in the Sports Centre League, against some old rivals – and what a start, with 15 1st, 2nd or 3rd places and a third in the cannon.
Special mentions:
- Edward Roberts for a phenomenal 1st place in the 50m breaststroke with an 8 second PB.
- 14 PB’s on the night from Hannah Simmons, 2 from Rebecca Horne, Emma Horne, Olivia Misiuda, Jack Harmer, Edward Roberts, Alice Mulligan, Jamie Misiuda, Connor Cruickshank, 3 from Mikey P, Holly McGarva & Charlie Underwood
- Emma Horne for an exhausting Open 100m fly followed VERY quickly by a fabulous 3rd place in the 100m breaststroke.
- Jack Harmer for outclassing every opponent in every event he swam.
- New faces Nick and Lewis for laying claim on the most comfortable seats on poolside, for winning the jazziest trunks competition and, most of all, for keeping Grant in a good mood. Oh – and some awesome swims. Thanks guys!
- Charlie Underwood for representing Portland so loyally for the last few years, for being a great support to all swimmers during her time with Portland and for setting a great example as Team Captain.
- So, had the team got the ultimate prize of sweets all round from Grant for a 4th place…? Not quite but there’s always the next time!! Plus we had a team trip to McDonald’s to round off a rather fab evening full of team spirit!
