Volunteering to help the club

Our fabulous club is run by fabulous volunteers who make it possible for all our children to enjoy and improve their swimming.

Please consider whether you can help with any of the roles currently available.

A couple of people to coordinate people who take the register.  One for each squad.   They would explain to each new register taker what is expected, using the instructions written by Isabel.   The aim is to take these tasks off the Secretary.  They would also arrange last minute replacements.

Somebody to help Jo Boydell to organise teams for the Saturday evening league galas. The head coach chooses teams for each gala but needs help to send invitations and receive replies.  Also to arrange the poolside helpers on the night.

Somebody to keep in regular contact with Quackers, David Lloyd, Virgin Active and other local swim schools.  To remind these schools that trials are available at Portland SC.

We need somebody to coordinate training for coaches and poolside assistants.  Also perhaps safeguarding courses. They will take requests from the committee to find courses for swimmers and coaches.   Then find out when a convenient course is going to be run, and help to enrol the person onto that course and to claim any

Coaching is a rewarding experience, especially if your child is already attending the sessions. Many of our coaches are also parents and consequently we need to ensure the continuity of training of younger parents.   So, the club pays for coaching and teaching courses, subject to written agreements about future coaching.
