What a great turn out for the latest mini-gala, both in the pool and on the spectator gallery. Some swimmers were there to see the improvements they have made, some to set new times.
For those new to the format the times are compared to times from the most recent previous mini gala and an overall percentage improvement across all strokes worked out.
Well done to all 40 swimmers, not only for your competitive spirit and obvious enthusiasm but also for your camaraderie which gave the evening a fantastic atmosphere.
Congratulations to the three swimmers who have made the biggest overall improvement this time:
1st Liam Hastings – 52%
2nd William Cranton – 45%
3rd Fraser Birney – 39%
Special mentions also to:
Oscar, Mia, Orla, Ned, Michael T, Chelsea, Joseph, Fran and Austin who all made over 20% improvement.
Euan for forgetting to take off on the backstroke start but putting in a fine performance to make up the gap!
Michael T for applauding his fellow competitors even when he was in the pool waiting for his heat!
Cecily for a particularly fine breaststroke.
Ned for being so surprised to be ahead in your heats!
Thanks as always to those on poolside, helping things to run smoothly, as well as to parents for bringing your children and giving great support to all the swimmers.
Several people commented on how much progress has already been made in swimming technique under Dan’s coaching regime. Well done swimmers – keep up the good work and, in the words of our coach, Mary, ‘roll on the Club Champs’!
