Wimbledon finals, Euro 16 final and the JC Dobb gala live from Hucknall …..
The gala team welcomed Lilly who swam for the Club for the first time and won both the 25m breaststroke and freestyle, in a convincing way. Well done Lilly.
There was plenty of cheering, smiles and sweets on poolside not to mention 15 PBs.
Grace came third in both her races, with a 5% PB improvement in 25m butterfly and a 3% PB in 25m backstroke. Anna, swimming up with the 14 year olds, swam a PB in the 50m Butterfly, barely breathing for a length, as did Alice who swam 6% faster than before in the 50m breaststroke. Mai reached a new PB in 50m breaststroke, a substantial 13% faster than her previous best while brother Efan recorded a new time of 49.23 for 50m butterfly.
Matilda swam confidently in the 50m breaststroke in 52.35, a 13% PB. Well done Matilda.
Liam came third in the 25m breaststroke with yet another PB of 7% while brother Luke swam 50m breast in 51.99, an 11% PB. Luke also picked up a couple of places in a relay race with a storming length of front crawl. Oliver recorded a new time for 25m backstroke and was close to his PB in 25m butterfly. Matthew swam a creditable PB in his 25m freestyle race, 7% faster than ever before.
Raj got PBs in 50m back and breast, the latter being equivalent to a County Qualifying time. Lucian knocked a couple of seconds off his 50m backstroke time, as did Archie in 50m free. Beth reduced her PB in 50m backstroke by a couple of seconds. Stan’s wonderful start in the 50m fly meant his time was close to his PB; he consistently swims at county qualifying standard. Lucy Waller also cut a second off her 50m backstroke PB.
Everybody either recorded a new time for an event or improved their PBs. Raj and Stan swam fast enough to qualify for Counties while coaches Matt and Rebecca both swam at County Qualifying pace in 50m free and butterfly.
Thank you to parent helpers Justine Drury, Isabel Toplass, Alison Waller, John Munro and Mr Beesley who happily acted as team managers, timekeepers and lane ends.
Also to Mary for judging and for Matt and Rebecca for swimming in several races each. You made it possible.
Lastly, thank you parents for bringing the team to Hucknall, we can be pleased with this collection of improved times.
