Peter Pink TrophyWhat do you call a collection of 55 swimmers? A ‘Peter Pink of swimmers’ of course! For the first time certainly in recent history we had 2 teams representing our Club, Team Dom and Team Dan, who between them clocked up 31 PBs, 5 new times, 3 new county qualifying times (CT) and 8 speeding tickets!

Special mentions:

Liesje Knights, Neave Myers, Angelina Giannino, Annabel Bowles, Toby Bowles, Anna Taylor, Chelsea Meadows, Austin Keane, Jamey Lineker, Fraser Birney and Liam Hastings for some very fine first time swims for Portland.

Charlotte Taylor for being a calming influence for the adults on poolside – we cannot thank you enough Charlotte.
Toby Bowles, Fraser Birney and Angelina Giannino for stepping up to do the challenging fly leg of their medley relays despite all being first timers.
Austin Keane for being 2 swimmers and filling in again and again in his first gala.
Ben Hardy for joining us again and putting in some great performances – please come back, Ben!
Gaby Marriott for outstanding swims in all her events.
Isabelle Day for leading the way, starting the individual events with a very impressive 1st place in the 50m backstroke.
Dan Hardy for rising to the challenge of the 50m fly despite losing his goggles from the off.
Jaime Misiuda for a brilliant, classy leg in the final event of the night, the cannon.
Luke Hastings, once again, for quietly and professionally getting on with the business in hand.

Swim of the night must go to Esther Simmons for an amazing 30.82 50m freestyle which, at the age of 13, is a mighty impressive performance.

Final placings were 5th for Team Dan and 6th for Team Dom, winners of the trophy this year being Sutton. However, this night was not about trophy success but about the success of our swimmers who are going from strength to strength and are great ambassadors for our Club. Well done and thank you guys!

Also huge thanks to ‘the frazzle of poolside helpers’ – and Charlotte – for getting the right swimmers to the right lane for the right event and ‘the efficiency of officials’, without whom we would not be able to send teams to these galas.
