We were promised an evening NOT TO BE MISSED and we got it! This is always a popular event but our Chair said (and I quote) ‘I have not seen that many people at a presentation evening in my 11 or so years at Portland’, so a huge thank you to everyone for coming along and making it a great night.
Nearly all the swimmers who competed at the Club Champs came to accept their awards and celebrate their success, but what was more impressive was how they celebrated their team mates’ successes too. You are certainly a very special group of guys.
Congratulations to Rebecca, Emma and Connor for being named as Club and Team Captains respectively – we know you will be fabulous ambassadors for the Club and do a great job.
Once the formalities were over though, it was time for the ever popular and delicious buffet – thank you for everyone’s generous contributions. Then Tim’s heads and tails game which he very kindly sponsored, Rebecca’s and Kathy’s cheeky quiz (thank you girls – just the right amount of challenge and congratulations to Team Dan who then very generously shared their prize!) and the random raffle – sorry there could be only one winner of the owl!
No room for Dad dances on the dance floor – it was full of young movers and groovers! How lovely to see all our swimmers (and friends/brothers/sisters/cousins) doing their thing together before it was time for the traditional ‘dress the mummy’ game. Thank you to all our ‘mummy dummies’ for being such good sports and congratulations to the winner (whoever it was under those bandages!).
I hope you all agree that we certainly know how to throw a good party and, if you weren’t able to make it this year, then be sure to book the date for next year – Friday 28th November 2014. Remember, arrive early if you want a seat!
Thank you to Rebecca Day for co-ordinating everything and to everyone who helped in whatever way – many hands make light work.
